Temperatures can not be less than "Absolute Zero", the lowest temperature possible.
Absolute zero = 0 K = −273.15 °C = −459.67 °F = 0 R

Formula for conversion from celsius to fahrenheit:
°F = ((9/5) x °C) + 32

Formula for conversion from fahrenheit to celsius:
°C = (5/9) x (°F-32)


What is 80 °F in °C?
°C = (5/9) x (80-32) = (0.556) * (48) = 26.7 °C

What is -40 °C in °F?
°F = ((9/5) x -40) + 32 = (-72) + 32 = -40 °F
so, -40 °C = -40 °F, an interesting coincidence!

Temperature is a physical quantity expressing hot and cold. It is a relative measure of the average kinetic energy of the random motions of microscopic particles in a system.

The basic metric unit of temperature is the kelvin (K). In most of the world, the most commonly used temperature measurement is the Celsius scale (°C), which was formerly called centigrade. The Fahrenheit scale (°F) is mainly used in the United States.

These temperature scales differ in two ways: the point chosen as zero degrees, and the size of the units (degrees) on the scale. Absolute zero" is the coldest physically-possible temperature. It is 0 K on the Kelvin scale, −273.15 °C on the Celsius scale, and −459.67 °F on the Fahrenheit scale.
